Description

1815 GRIFFIN & CO. Plug 8 handcuff  w/ working Key Police Prison
We are pleased to offer this Thomas Griffin and Company plug 8 handcuff which pre-dates 1815 and is marked "GRIFFIN & CO. 12 HARD".  To my knowledge, this is the earliest known example of a Griffin Plug 8 handcuff and pre-dates the partnership of Griffin and Nichols, and Griffin Nichols and Griffin & Hiatt.  Research also shows that The Thomas Griffin and Company may have begun as early as 1780.  This is a very scarce and unique piece that fills an early void in the history of handcuffs and the Hiatt lineage.  It is rumored that Griffin and Hiatt may have been related.  Please see images for details.
