There are a few minor scuffs on it but overall it's pretty clean inside-and-out. No odors, smoke or pet hair. The exterior shell is faux leather or perhaps vinyl. It's a thick and fairly heavy material. Bag has a moderate level of padding to it.
This is a universal type case that Dean, known for its unique shapes, intended to be used across a wide array of guitars. As you can see an Explorer-shaped guitar does fit but just barely. This bag is most appropriate for carrying bass guitars.
