a silver plate souvenir demitasse spoon by Oneida.  It celebrates the Lake Shore & Southern Michigan Railway which is illustrated in the bowl.  It dates from ca. 1900 and is in good estate condition with typical minor surface scratches.  It measures 4 3/8" long.  Please review the pictures as they are part of the description and ask questions prior to bidding.

Did you know the eventual souvenir craze started in the United States?
There were the occasional spoons sold in Europe, but the first legitimate spoon originated in the United States.
The spoon commemorated the Salem, Massachusetts, witches and was produced by Daniel Low & Co. which launched the souvenir spoon collecting industry about 1890.
For the most part, we sell only sterling silver spoons commemorating the little towns and boroughs of our country.
Of course, the items for sale represent a variety of other famous tourist destinations both past and present.
They have value as a commodity and for the rich memories they may invoke.

Shipping/Handling/Insurance Policy
All items are carefully packed and insured upon request. It is your responsibility to request and pay for your insurance.  Each piece is carefully wrapped and for larger more fragile items they will be double boxed.  Should damage occur in spite of our careful packaging please contact us immediately.  Always be sure to retain all original packaging if a claim is to be made as the shipping agent may request to examine it. That being said, in over 11 years of internet shipping, we have had only three claims.  Shipping is usually done within 24 hours of the receipt of a cleared payment.  Please feel free to contact us with any inquiries about our items or shipping.
