This vintage Zuni bolo tie has been beautifully crafted. The bolo is curved and the inlay fits perfectly into the bolo and is very smooth to the touch. Only a master could do such exquisite inlay on a curved surface. This design may be a Commanche dancer according to Toshio Sei's book "Kachinas and Ceremonial Dancers in Zuni Jewelry. He has an example on page 107 of a bolo tie very similar to this one that he attributes to Cecilia and John Lucio. This bolo looks to date to the 1940s-1950s. John was active from the 1930s and he passed on in 1984.
The bolo measures approximately 1 1/2" tall by 1 5/8" across. The silver tips measure 1 1/2" long. The bolo tie weighs 30 grams or 1.06 ounce. This bolo tie is in excellent vintage condition. It's a beautiful Zuni bolo made by a master silversmith.
