Description
Welcome.WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT THEM: Offered... an extraordinary hand constructed early-mid-Century Zuni mosaic inlay sun face earring set all inlaid by an expert master artist whom I identify with certainty as Myra and Lee Tuscon. The sun face is a known design of hers and it's beautiful; it is published in a book, identified as her work. She is one of the best master Zuni artists so the work on these pieces is superb, both the channel inlay and the silver work, which date to the 1940s-1950s at the latest. I have a matching ranger belt set which is available separately and I've included three pics of that set above. It would be fabulous to wear the belt with the earrings or for one partner to wear the belt and the other, the earrings. I had the earrings converted to posts using laser, and I'll include either small sterling butterfly backs or larger stainless steel butterfly backs (which provide good balance) with the earrings.
BACKGROUND: Myra was married to Homer Vacit, the younger brother of Frank Vacit. Later she married Lee Tucson. She exhibited with Kenneth Begay in 1965 at the Southwest Indian Arts II California exhibition and was considered one of the great masters in Zuni silver work.
CONDITION: excellent vintage, wearable and collectible. I had them converted to posts using laser, so the original work wasn't harmed or changed in any way.
MEASUREMENTS:
• 1" W X 3/4" H
• 4.43grams, 4.49grams each, very light on the ears yet bright and colorful and beautiful!
• unsigned by the artists which is usual for the time but guaranteed to be the work of Myra Tucson with her husband, Lee Tucson
• unmarked for metal content but guaranteed to be sterling silver .925
• mosaic inlay of natural stones: coral, turquoise, jet and mother of pearl
SUMMARY: these sunface earrings are gorgeous and were made by one of the great master Zuni silversmiths. I also have separately available an exactly matching four piece belt ranger set, see in three pics above. These are masterpieces by one of the all tie great master Zuni silversmiths but they are priced very reasonably for their value and I think you will always enjoy having them. I wear them with many other mosaic inlay Zuni pieces; they are a go to set of earrings.

International buyers pay actual shipping cost if I’m shipping myself rather than using eBay’s Global Shipping service, and International buyers are responsible for any customs fees their own countries may apply. It's less expensive and is also tracked. First Class International is no longer offered by the US Postal Service. I charge the actual shipping cost and since shipping to each country costs a different amount, I will charge a little extra and refund the exact difference once I can put your address in and print a shipping label. I am no longer shipping to Italy and China, but can make exceptions if you speak with me about it, especially if you are a prior customer.

When I include pages from published books in my listings it is in accordance with Fair Use Law, which permits the use of source material for discussion, reference, education and criticism.
Attributions on many of the old pieces of Native American jewelry are sometimes a moving target. All the books have errors, so in addition to counterchecking, I have developed some expertise over the years and I do care about getting it right, so as more information comes to light I update my listings and also get in touch with my previous buyers, to inform them of any changes in attributions. I am sincerely committed to ongoing accuracy.
